WATERLOO, ONTARIO, Oct 19, 2011 -
FleetCarma(TM) is a winner of the prestigious Deloitte
Technology Green 15(TM) Award, an award created in 2007 to showcase
15 Canadian companies that are leading the way to create major
breakthroughs in the field of green technology.
"The Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award recognizes those
Canadian companies that offer solutions to global environmental
challenges by creating intellectual property and technology that
reduce society's environmental impact," said Richard Lee, National
Leader, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Industry Group,
Deloitte.
"Companies such as FleetCarma are creating technology solutions
that have a significant environmental impact and demonstrate a
compelling return on investment, despite facing tough economic
times. In doing so, they are helping position Canada as a global
leader in the development of commercially viable green
technology."
FleetCarma's CEO, Matt Stevens, credits his company's unique
Cloud-based solution forPredictive Total Cost of
Ownership (TCO) in helping FleetCarma achieve
"Technology Green 15(TM)" award recognition.
TCO has the potential to save North American fleets $29 billion
in financial costs, 6 billion litres of fuel, and 72 megatons of
CO2 per year. However, many fleets have had difficulty adopting
Conventional TCO because of the capital costs to implement it and
the challenge to get accurate results.
This challenge is further exacerbated when it comes to electric
vehicles (EVs). Notwithstanding the increase in and volatility of
fuel prices, the wide variation in real-world fuel economy ratings
of EVs has historically made it difficult for fleet managers to
adopt Conventional TCO with confidence.
FleetCarma provides fleet decision
makers with the tools and information they need to understand when
an EV is right for their particular application and how much it
could reduce their costs and environmental
impact.
FleetCarma provides fleet managers with data loggers on loan to
collect real-world drive cycle data and uses this data within its
well-established vehicle simulation models to provide highly
reliable operational costs of electric vehicles for any fleet
wanting to go green.
Stevens said, "Receiving the Deloitte Technology Green 15(TM)
Award is an important milestone for FleetCarma. It puts the
spotlight on the critical role a Green transportation sector can
play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving our air
quality.
Fleet vehicles are also likely to serve as a gateway for EVs to
establish critical mass and reduced acquisition costs for
individual consumers through economies of scale. One of
FleetCarma's goals is to help society make this transition to
electric mobility through better decisions for companies' bottom
line and for the environment."
The Technology Green 15 recognizes Canada's leading GreenTech
companies. GreenTech, the industry term for "green technologies",
is taking on greater importance in the world in general, and the
world of business in particular. It includes any technology that
promotes a more efficient use and re-use of the earth's resources
in industrial production and consumption.
FleetCarma, a division of CrossChasm Technologies Inc., guides
large-scale end users of vehicles, such as fleet managers and fleet
owners, in accurately assessing the full lifecycle costs of next
generation vehicle adoption. More information on FleetCarma is
