British Columbia will have a presence at one of Asia's largest clean energy and environmental technology trade shows. REK 2012 in Seoul provides a unique and exciting opportunity for BC companies to investigate and expand their business in key Asian markets.

More than 29,000 visitors attended REK 2011. 959 booths represented 247 companies from 13 countries. This key regional trade event also includes a conference component and is held concurrently with the Korea Green Energy Show 2012. REK has a broad focus, including:

  • Environment - water, air, waste water, green building, energy efficiencies, monitoring equipment
  • Energy - clean energy policies & projects, PV, wind, tidel, biomass, waste to energy, fuel cells, fuels

In May 2012 South Korean lawmakers approved a national carbon trading scheme to tackle its growing GHG emissions. The decision passed with 98% support and makes South Korean one of the few Asia Pacific countries to put a price on carbon.

In January, South Korea's Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) regulation took effect. This law requires the country's major utilities and IPPs to generate power using renewable sources of 2% in 2012 and up to 10% by 2020. Utilities and several IPPs are in the midst of discussing partnerships toward new sources of clean energy.

As an exhibitor within the British Columbia Pavilion, companies receive the following:

  • Complimentary exhibit space to promote your product or service
  • Presentation opportunities at the REK conference and/or British Columbia networking event
  • Access to business matching services provided by British Columbia's Trade & Investment office in Seoul
  • REK 2012 Conference rate at nearby hotel

Exhibit space is limited and is provided on a first-come first-serve basis. BC companies are responsible for their own flight, hotel and ground transportation costs. Visit the REK 2012 website to learn more. To reserve your space, please contact:
