GLOBE-Net Web Researcher/Writer

The GLOBE Foundation is a Vancouver-based, not-for-profit environmental business organization dedicated to finding practical business-oriented solutions to the world's environmental challenges. Formed in 1993, we're a leader in championing green initiatives and leveraging sustainable ventures into mutually rewarding opportunities for enterprise and the environment.

Reporting to the Editor, GLOBE-Net, the primary responsibility of this position is to research the web and other sources of information and prepare articles, reports and special features to post on GLOBE-Net.com environmental business news site.

This involves:

  • Writing, refreshing, updating and editing website content to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the information and graphic content contained therein;
  • Pooling information from a variety of sources and blending into a unique, informative and concise piece with a clear and relevant message;
  • Solid understanding of the business of the environment and related issues, such as renewable energy, corporate responsibility, etc;
  • The ongoing operation, administration, development, and design of the GLOBE-Net website;
  • Working with the Marketing and Communications Team, and other members of the GLOBE Foundation to translate the various goals and objectives of the Foundation into relevant content for GLOBE-Net, thereby maximizing integration and synergy between GLOBE Foundation product lines and cross-selling other GLOBE Foundation products/services;
  • Exploring new technology options for the delivery of GLOBE-Net's corporate messages, business opportunity transactions, advertising opportunities/sales and all related information services;
  • Managing the promotion of GLOBE-Net services through targeted marketing initiatives; encouragement of GLOBE-Net 'pick up' from relevant www search sites; and assisting in promoting the site through other GLOBE Foundation communications vehicles;
  • Responding to all inquiries and answering all website related questions from internal and external users and acting as the web master for the site;
  • Maintaining the GLOBE-Net database as required to serve its clients needs and to facilitate its integration with other GLOBE Foundation databases;
  • Other related duties as specified by the Editor of GLOBE-Net.

Key Skills:

  • A University education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the business of the environment a definite asset.
  • Overall writing quality must be very high; exceptional research, comprehension, grammar and spelling skills with ability to edit quickly and thoroughly for a highly knowledgeable audience of paramount importance.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and simultaneously manage a variety of articles pertaining to different subject matter is essential. The site requires approximately 7 articles each week, 500-800 words each.
  • 100% fluency in English both written and oral mandatory.
  • Must enjoy working in a small office environment and be able to stay on top of/identify opportunities within the organization's various projects to seamlessly integrate into GLOBE-Net content.
  • Able to work independently and meet aggressive time deadlines.
