The oil sands are a vital asset for Canada and industry knows it must clean up its environmental act. The oil sands also are the key to Canada's ability to compete in a low carbon future.

The U.S. mid-term election results have killed chances for a comprehensive national climate change policy, at least during President Obama's first term in office. While this represents a 'game-changer', it's not the end of the world; nor does it mean progress is not possible in other areas such as clean technology.

The latest 'Greenwashing' report from marketing firm TerraChoice says 95% of the products it surveyed involved "greenwashing". While false marketing should not be tolerated in any form, such sweeping statements may do more harm than good by reinforcing the notion that businesses cannot be trusted in what they say or do.

U.S. President Barack Obama’s ‘Yes We Can’ revolution appears to have stumbled with respect to his promise for a new deal on energy and a renewal of American leadership on climate change. Despite the many achievements of his administration to date, forged during a period of economic collapse at home and international conflict abroad, progress on the climate front has been disappointing and many fear the opportunity for meaningful change is passing.
